Jam TartsAug 09, 2016
A classic recipe for your kids to make for all the family to enjoy. The kids get to make pastry, roll it out, stamp out the tarts and then fill them with jam. With it being afternoon tea week, we thought this would be a great little bake to start off your cake selection. Have you checked out our Junior Bakes subscription box? Its a great chance to get your kids in the kitchen having fun! Ingredients (makes x12) 12 teaspoons jam 20g caster sugar 170g plain flour 100g butter 2 tbsp cold water Method Preheat the oven to 180C. Put the flour and sugar in a mixing bowl and rub in the butter until it resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add the water tablespoon by table spoon until it is a moist dough, but not sticky. Sprinkle a little flour into a cupcake tray and then roll the dough out onto a floured work surface. Use a large scone cutter to cut out circles and place them into the cupcake tray. Place a tea spoon of jam into each pastry case and bake for 15 minutes. Leave to cool slightly in the tray before transferring to a cooling rack. Why not mix up the flavours and use marmalade and lemon curd to make rainbow tarts? Remember to tag us in your bakes on Instagram using @bakesbox or #bakesbox.
